Conveniently located within the Vista del Monte Fitness & Aquatic Center, Active Physical Therapy offers out-patient physical therapy with expertise in aquatic, orthopedic and geriatric rehabilitation. Physical therapy utilizes the heated indoor pool, fully equipped gymnasium, private treatment rooms, and a state- of-the-art aquatic rehabilitation pool called the SwimEx.

Unique Benefits of Aquatic Physical Therapy
Aquatic physical therapy has been clinically and scientifically proven to be an effective treatment for many musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and immunological disorders.

The physical properties of water - including buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, and viscosity - provide a therapeutic environment that cannot always be achieved with land rehabilitation.

Aquatic therapy can address many of the problems commonly associated with musculoskeletal injury including:

  • Pain
  • Reduced range of motion
  • Reduced strength
  • Reduced functional mobility
  • Limited weight bearing
  • Diminished proprioceptive input
  • Deconditioning

Patients start therapy earlier and recover sooner. In many cases, hydrotherapy in the acute stages of rehabilitation can be initiated earlier than land-based therapy. Water can be the best environment in which to pursue full function. Therapy pools are a safe environment for injuries and conditions in all stages of rehabilitation. Aquatic therapy can accelerate the healing process and recovery time after injury or illness.

The aquatic environment can be effectively utilized in the progression of:

  • Strengthening
  • Weight-bearing
  • Functional land activities
  • Conditioning and endurance
  • Sport-specific activities
  • Flexibility and range of motion
  • Gait training
  • Balance training

Additional Physical Therapy Benefits:

  • Spine Rehabilitation
  • Balance and Gait Disorder Therapy
  • Arthritis Treatment
  • Post Surgical/ Joint Replacement Rehabilitation
  • Physical Therapy for Sprains/Strains
